“Volunteering instills a deep sense of purpose in me; it keeps me grounded. Volunteering is also a meaningful way to contribute to the well-being of others and society”

— Nia English, Volunteer

In 2020, I secured my first grant from the Davis Project for Peace Foundation, receiving $10,000 to support the Indonesian elderly transgender community in Jakarta. I launched a laundromat at FKWI as an income-generating initiative to bolster the shelter’s social services and create employment opportunities for its members. Amid the Covid-19 pandemic, I managed the project remotely with the help of volunteers, and the laundromat was officially established in August 2021.
